Thank You and Giveaway!

I was going to post our bedroom reveal today, but it's going to have to wait until next week because I just wanted to take the time today to say THANK YOU.

For the second time this week I was stopped by someone in my local shopping centre who told me they read my blog and how much they enjoy it. I was so thrilled to meet these lovely ladies and so touched they had the courage to come up and say hello. Apart from the fact it always happens on the day I rush out of the house with no make-up and my kids are having tantrums, it is so wonderful and rewarding for me to meet you face to face, and know that out there are real people reading and enjoying what I'm doing. Blogging can be a very lonely and isolating hobby, and it's great to know you are putting in all these hours of effort to be read and enjoyed.

So to everyone who reads, follows, likes, comments and emails me I am truly grateful and appreciate of your time and commitment to this blog, because that is why it endures and what gives me the incentive and encouragement to continue.

I know most of you don't comment on posts, but I know you're out there because I see the numbers. So when I can put a face to even one of the silent majority it gives me a thrill. I also really enjoy hearing from you directly by email, and answering your questions about renovating and decorating, sharing my experience, details of the house and offering whatever advice or ideas I can.

I have met some wonderful ladies through email, been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity, many of whom I enjoy a lovely email friendship with. It's strange how you can be such good pals with girls you've never met! It is this side of blogging that is so rewarding.

Callisto Home

So as a thank you I am going to have my first GIVEAWAY ever. I had planned on doing this properly in a few weeks, but prompted by this post I am going to give away the most beautiful embroidered and beaded cushion cover by Callisto Home, New York. I ordered this from Callisto when I was at the gift fair in New York last year, to consider as one of the stock items for my online business.

The cushion measures 22x22" or 58x58cm. It is made of heavy blue/grey linen with intricate ivory beading. These cushions retail for about $250 each. I won't include an insert as it's too bulky and expensive to post, and I want to be able to send it anywhere. So this giveaway is open to all countries.

In order to be eligible to win this beautiful cushion, I ask you to do something for me.

Step One: LIKE Georgica Pond on Facebook here and say hello.

Step Two: FOLLOW Georgica Pond on one or more of these social media networks. The more you do, the more chances you have of winning.

Pinterest here

Instagram @georgicapondblog

Twitter @georgicapondoz

Step Three:  Leave a COMMENT on this post telling me you've done so, and what is it you like most about the blog.

That's all. The giveaway ends at midday Friday 9 November, 2012 and a winner selected randomly. I will announce the winner the following Monday and the lucky person will have until Friday 16 November to contact me or the prize will be redrawn and a new winner announced.

PS Don't be afraid to stop and say hi! Have a great weekend.

  7. Hi Melinda. Due to a pathological phobia of all social media, I am not on Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest, and in fact I am not even an 'official follower' of the blog - so sadly cannot enter your lovely competition. BUT, I stalk your blog daily and have never ever even commented on any blog before due to aforesaid pathological phobia. Just wanted to let you know, from one of the 'silent majority', that I love your work and share many of the same passions and frustrations. I particularly love seeing you bring your inspirations to life given the difficulties in sourcing things in Australia and a real-life normal-person budget!! I have just renovated myself and went through the same pain in sourcing appropriate items in Australia. Would love to hear your opinion on how the marble benchtops are holding up, given that marble gets such a bad rap in relation to staining and etching. I have installed Calacutta marble in my own house despite the (many) naysayers. Best wishes Tammy

    1. Hi Tammy, not sure if you'll get this reply as I don't know how it works with anonymous comments, but please feel free to email me directly if you have a question. I'm always more than happy to respond and tell you what I think and how I find something. As for the marble I think it's great. I haven't found any problems with staining, in fact I now can leave wine, tea, oil etc on for hours or even days, (I'm far less neurotic than I was at first), and it all comes out with some Ajax or Jif. It scratches quite easily, but they just seem to disappear with a wipeover, or a bit of a buff. The only thing that annoys me is that the kids sit at the counter for dinner and bang their knives and forks on the marble which leaves little white dots that I can't remove. That annoys me somewhat, but apart from that I really don't understand why it gets such a bad rap because it's so easy to maintain, and no different from caesarstone. Thanks for being such a great follower. Mx

    1. Thanks Jill. Yes, it is a beautiful cushion. I have been toying with ripping of the tag and keeping it for myself or saving it to sell on my online store when I get around to it, but have been so touched by all the support and kindness of my darling followers I felt I should share the love. Callisto Home have some beautiful cushions, but they only sell wholesale, so I'm glad to make it available.

  12. Done! I adore your blog for the amazing images and your stunning home. It's become my reference point in my own home renovation and I am forever bringing it up on my iPhone to try and explain to my husband or tradies what on earth I am on about!! Love Love Love so thank you x

    1. Hayley, that is the best kind of affirmation I can have. Because I have done that before with other blogs and houses, and I know what it's like when you find something that gives you a reference point. Builders and trades just don't get it, and husbands certainly don't! Believe me, I had to deal with both saying, can't you just have what everybody else has, or we usually do it like this! Well, I don't want to do it like that, so just make it work!!! Anyway, I'm sure your house will be amazing and I would love to see photos when it's done. Thanks for being such a great follower.

  17. Hi Mel,
I'm the crazy lady from the bakery that said hello to you this week! Just love your blog and all that you post about... Your house looks amazing!!
And since I never comment on here, in reference to an earlier post about your blog name... I thought everyone knew your name is Melinda - how can anyone be confused???!!
By the way, I get your updates via email - the last 2 posts I didn't receive... Just so you know...
We also own another bakery in Westfield BJ, so I'm out there a lot - I'm sooooo excited about West Elm etc coming to BJ early next year... I'm always outside checking out their progress, looks a bit slow though... So hopefully they pick up the pace so we can get in there!! I'll be there opening day, see you there too! Might have to drag my 4 year old too, at least he can check out PB Kids!!

    1. Hi Jac, well it's thanks to you and another lovely local girl I'm doing this giveaway, because I was so thrilled to meet you and have you say hello. It means a lot. It's lovely to meet followers in person and know that there are real, lovely, interested girls out there following and reading. Makes it all worthwhile. WE used to live in Bondi, so I am very familiar with Westfield there, and shopped with you many times. I am in contact with the PR agency working on this, and have the intel on what's happening, so will keep you all posted. It's looking like March, so fingers crossed. I'm beyond excited!!!!

    2. Hi Jac, you mentioned recently that you weren't getting my posts by email and it had been a while. So I have since discovered that the Google Feedburner hasn't been updating them, perhaps since the beginning of November. Would you mind letting me know when you last received one, there should be six this month so far and the lastest being today on Window Frosting. Thanks. Mel

  21. Hi Melinda, I've been following your blog for about 5 months now ( and read all the way thru your old posts) - and particularly loved following the stages of your home renovation. I've just got back from a week in NYC and used some of your posted details of your trip last year to help plan my assault on the home decor stores! .... But am kicking myself that I seemed to have missed Calisto Homes - that cushion cover is gorgeous!

    1. Hi Annie, don't worry Callisto Home is a wholesaler, so you wouldn't have seen them unless you went to the gift fair. But I'm thrilled to hear that my trip and blog have provided you with some inspiration and incentive. Hope you found some great things on your visit to NY. Isn't it the best! Every second person I have been speaking to lately has been there, and I'm desperate for a return trip! Great to have you following and I"m glad you find something to inspire you.x
