I have been planning and dreaming about our master bedroom for months and months. And I have finally settled on a colour scheme and fabrics.
Here was my initial inspiration - soft muted shades of blue/green/grey, lots of white painted woodwork, hints of dark timber, bamboo blinds, silk curtains, statement headboard, statement light fixture...for starters.

So after much searching and deliberation, I finally settled on the fabrics for the house which was the launching pad for the rest.
Firstly, fabrics. Once I saw this I couldn't go past it. Absolutely heavenly design, featuring all my favourite colours. This is the headboard fabric Sinhala Linen Print in Sky by
Martyn Lawrence Bullard for
Schumacher. Hideously expensive, but as I gave up my wallpaper in both bathrooms, I splurged on these items, which we can take when we move on.

This will go with the matching fabric for a statement chair and cushions.
And the Soho Weave, colour Capri also from Schumacher, for cushions or an upholstered stool for the end of the bed.
The paint colour I have chosen is Dulux Roland for the walls, and Seed Pearl (ours in quarter strength) for the ceiling, with Vivid White for all the timberwork.

Here's what I hope it will look like. My first attempt at Olioboard with some Christmas wishlist furniture bits as well.
What do you think?
Gorgeous Mel - beautiful colour palette - like the way you are already talking about moving on!!! Hopefully not too soon after all the work you have put in. Leanne xx
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled across your blog for the first time and I love this! I am currently renovating in Eastern Sydney in a Hamptons esque style and am looking at a similar blue/grey scheme for the bedroom. I was actually over at Porters today and couldn't find the right colour. I will definitely follow up on the Dulux Roland - divine! Cheers Helen
ReplyDeleteStunning! That's what I think. Gorgeous colour scheme and I can see how you couldn't go past that fabric. Looking forward to seeing the room

Melinda, your choices are beautiful, I am enjoying watching your renovation and can't wait to see the finished product.
ReplyDeleteMel baby you are better than a weekly tv series! I wait with baited breath for each of your blogs. Love the colour and like every other person can not wait for the final result. I hope that when things settle down for you and your house is done you will offer your services to the poorly design challenged like me. I will be the first in line to be a paying client, until then bring on the master bedroom. Love it all. All I can say is watch out million dollar designers Mel has arrived. Have a great weekend. Tracey

I came across your blog a few weeks ago, we too are going through the building process at the moment. I love your inspiration board, just gorgeous! The Schumacher fabrics are just devine. As Sarah Richardson would say your "jumping off point" for the room! Look forward to seeing it all come together!
ReplyDeleteLove your olioboard. They are great fun aren't they.
ReplyDeleteI think you bed head will be lovely as will the room generally . Those soft bluey greys and whites are so on trend right now. My favoutite inspiration shot was the MAry McDonald picture.
Hope you aren't sweltering in this heat.
