I seem to be mostly obsessed about bathrooms at the moment. Actually this obsession has been running deep for some time, probably as it's the one thing I keep having to make decisions about and my greatest source of frustration. Can't find the tiles I want, can't get the taps I want, can't find the lights I want, and can't decide which hideously expensive wallpaper I want......
So, going to the US only served to further frustrate me, but also provided me with endless photos over which to drool and pine. My favourite store without peer was
Waterworks, both the stores in NY and LA were amazing and I spent hours in there touching, sighing and gazing. The staff all thought I was a little strange, particularly when I told one breathlessly that she was so lucky to work there. She just looked at me as though I was nuts. But being surrounded by all that bathroom beauty must be so wonderful. I was hoping to take home at least a nice polished nickel toilet roll holder or a hook as a souvenir, but for $400+ even that was out of the question. So all I could afford was a little cake of soap in a heavenly pale aqua and a glass bottle for liquid soap.
Ann Sacks had a store across the road from Waterworks and the stuff in there was so exquisite, I didn't want to leave.
So get comfy, this could take a while......and it should come with a health warning for anyone with a weak heart for gorgeous to die for bathroomware.
Prepare to be dazzled!

CONGRATULATIONS - if you made it this far. You are officially a bathroom addict like me!
Wow, these are really amazing bathrooms. I really like how they mix up the tiles, which we don't tend to do so much in Australia. This is divine. I'm definitely a bathroom addict. Amber
ReplyDeleteDazzled is, indeed, the word.
ReplyDeleteNow you just need to find yourself a fabulous tiler who will painstakingly set out these intricate patterns without complaint. I have a great one here in Melbourne who will do this sort of work for me, but I fear he is an endangered species. I love these kinds of tile patterns - and the shop must be enormous!
Now that was a visual feast! I have to agree with your choice of lights, even before I read your comment I was saying the same - they are divine!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tour.
