Bleu et blanc - The Inaugural Post

I know, I know, you've seen it all before BUT as this is blog is a newcomer in the blogworld, I hope you'll give me leave to do at least one post on the ever popular and universally worshipped pairing of Blue and White. I love it, I live it, I wear it - in all its glorious variations. To me it's fresh, timeless, classic, stimulating, pretty, clean, chic, works in every room in every application and is something I simply cannot live without!

So here's a few of my favourites on the darker end of the blue spectrum. Oh and I lied, this is the first of many posts about blue and white!

And I even work blue into my Christmas wrapping....

You see, me and blue and white go back a long way, and there will be many more years of shared happiness to come.

  1. It's actually rather amazing reading your posts Melinda. I have those same Spode plates (plus a rather large collection of vintage pieces), the same blue paisley fabric, and more than a few of those inspiration pics as well. You obviously have most superior taste! :) K xx

  2. hi melinda, what a fabulous blog you have - so glad I found it!!! you say it's young, but you have put up so many great posts already! I've been looking thru your past posts, I love the "past life" posts about your previous home - what a gorgeous place, rural, yet lovely warmth inside, not industrial at all inside!!! Then there is your current home - I love that you recommend you and the family move out while reno'ing, I so agree - of course your DH asks "but why?" - says a lot about workload share in your household! LOL

I just finished reno'ing my country IP www.mytowncottage.blogspot.com - so I know exactly what you're up for. My kids visited me the other day whilst I was tidying up, only to pick a up a whiteboard marker and draw all over the new kitchen wall! Took it in my stride, calmly asked for the pens back, asked my DH to put them in the car, take them home - then went straight out and got the can of paint, brush - and you know how that story ends. Such is life... I'll be visiting your blog regularly now that I've found it - I see you love the Hamptons too, A-M (in QLD?) also loves it (not sure if you've seen her blog http://thehousethata-mbuilt.blogspot.com/ )

    catchya round.

  3. I am so glad you reposted this post!! I am a lover of blue and white and I did a post on this timeless combo on my blog also. In Jan. of this year I said I would be adding more blue and white to my home this year. I have done so in my living room and entry hall. Now I am working on a blue ticking sofa for the family room!!! I could stay here all day and look at the above images, many of them I have in my files too, Great minds think alike!! Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog yesterday, I look forward to see more of you and getting to know you, Me in California and you in Australia, blogland is soooo fun!! KS
